The Toyota Yaris was only available as a 3dr hatchback and 4dr sedan, but Toyota wants to add the 5dr to the current Yaris range.The reason for bringing a 5dr Yaris over is to help broaden appeal of the affordable and fuel-efficient (34mpg city, 40mpg highway) range. The company’s sales have been falling off last year’s pace over the past several months, but it is in a unique position to leverage its overseas products to bring quick and affordable solutions to the U.S, unlike most of its American counterparts.
The 5dr will go on sale in the U.S late this summer.
